Dear Dr. Grace:
The following is the status of our progress to date on resolving the violation identified in I.E. Report 50-400/83-29, Failure to Control Fastening Material.
In our March 29, 1985, letter (NRC-342) concerning the referenced violation we stated that our investigation for acceptability of previously installed fasteners was continuing, but additional time to complete the investigation was required.
The investigation for acceptability of previously installed fastencrs included reinspection as individual documentation packages were completed and verified prior to system turnover and our previous projection of January 10, 1986 for completing this investigation was based on the, then current, fuel load and in-service dates.
To date, investigation for acceptability of previously installed fasteners and corrective action, if necessary, have been completed in disciplines where applicable except for HVAC.
Investigation and corrective action in this area are continuing and consist of a system by system walkdown to verify acceptability prior to system turnover.
Our current projected date for completing verification of previously installed fasteners is now May 16, 1986.
