Dear Mr. Keppler:
The above reference transmitted Commonwealth Edison's final 4
report relative to a relay deficiency reported to the NRC on our j
emergency diesel generators (55(e) report 82-03).
The purpose of i
this letter is to revise that response.
Our final report identified two corrective actions to be taken to remedy this problem (1) replacement of the speed sensing auxiliary relay with heavy duty j
relays and (2) replacement of the 120 VAC voltage sensing relays with 125 VDC relays and a diode rectifier circuit.
The 120 VAC voltage sensing relays (VR) which were i
identified to be replaced with 125 VDC relays were actually replaced l
with 110 VDC relays.
This change has been tested and qualified for it's intended purpose and therefore is considered to be acceptable.
Tests and analysis of this circuit can be found in the qualification report for this equipment.
