INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE MAINTENANCE AND USE OF THE CONTA 1/ Operation and use The container is designed for the transportation of cobalt sources and also as a castle for loading or unloading an irradiation device.
Loadi[s and unloading operations are carried out with a rod.
As regards the preliminary installation of the new source in the device, this operation may be carried out in a cell, behind a protective barrier.
2/ Preparation of the container The container rests on its rollers and its caster-equipped front cover.
The centainer may be immobilized on the ground with chocks.

SERVICE PROCEDURE FOR CONTAINER 9811 600 70001 The container provides the means to move a radioactive Co 60 source from the container into the Cobalt therapy unit head and the reverse with minimum risk for the user.
The nozzle (item 17) of the container is provided with a
+0.02 ringgaugef23.8 mm.
From the rest position, a locking pawl (item 43) can be pushed in 0.5 mm with a force of 1300g.
When the locking pawl is pushed in up to 1.8 mm, the passage for a loading rod (item 15) is free.
The shifti,ng force for the loading rod is 100g max.
When striking against a stop, the front of the loading rod is flush with the front of the plug (item 18).
For use in a
hot cell of limited dimensions, a split Icading rod must be present too.
The source wheel assy (item 19) rotates smoothly with an axial wobble of max.
O.25mm and a clearance of 0.1 - 0.35mm between the wheel and the plug.
A test rod (item 5) provides the means to establish that a
source has been correctly loaded, resp.
Ioaded back to
- front, resp. is absent in any of the two compartments.
The test rod can be pushed against spring pressure with a force of 1800 g.
A locking handle (item 3) couples the positions and releases the movements of the source wheel of the Cobalt head and the source wheel of the container.
The handle can be moved with a force of 230 g max.
