Mr. H. E. Morgan Station Manager Gentlemen:

This acknowledges the receipt of your letters dated June 20, and October 23, 1985, by which you transmitted Revisions 5 and 5A to the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1, 2, and 3, Physical Security Plan, dated August 1983. The revision described changes to the security plan, revision of local law enforcement support and placement of a temporary North Security Processing Facility on the eastern Unit 1 protected area boundary.

We find the changes submitted by the subject letters to be consistent with the provisions of 10 CFR 50.54(p). Accordingly, they are acceptable for inclusion into the plan.

We were telephonically informed'on October 24, 1985, that Figure 5-1 to the plan is being updated and along with a description of security procedures in effect during construction of the new North Security Processing Facility will be submitted as Revision 5B to the plan. The figure and interim security procedures will be reviewed upon receipt.

The attachments to your letter are being withheld from public disclosure because they contain Safeguards Information and must be protected in accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR 73.21.
