RADIOGRAPHY OF CHARGING LINE THERMAL SLEEVES By letter dated March 13, 1985, you informed the NRC that, based on further evaluation, you had concluded the radiographic indication in the Loop A charging line thermal sleeve attachment weld, interpreted in 1982 as a crack, is actually a non-relevant indication, probably caused by a weld geometry condition. Accordingly, you stated PGE planned to discontinue annual radiography of these thermal sleeves and the preferential use of the alternate charging line. These were actions you had consnitted to perform when the above radiographic indication was first identified in 1982.
Enclosed is the staff's Safety Evaluation of the effect of your decision to discontinue these actions. The evaluation concludes such discontinuance is acceptable.
