r NIAGARA h!0llAWK POWER CORPORATION NINE blILE POINT NUCLEAR STATION UNIT #1 NARRATIVE OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE The station operated during the month of November 1985 with a Unit Availability Factor of 74.1 and a Net Design Electrical Capacity Factor of 69.7.

There was 1 challenge to the Electromatic Relief Valves. Reduc-tions in Capacity Factor were due to 3 Rx Scrams and a load reduction to pull control rods.

CLASS I WORK - blECilANICAL h!AINTENANCE - NOVEh!BER 1985 hR# 24626 Rebuild snubber 39-IIS-22 because of low oil in res. (Snubber rebuilt by Bergen Paterson) hR# 35583 Inspect and repair as necessary #11 Inst. air dryer. (Repaired swing bolts on filters)

WR# 35321 Open and Inspect internal of suspect Instrument air system valves, repair as necessary. Opened valves and found no problems, hR# 31989 Valve 05-01R (Emerg. Cond. vent to blain Steam line) packing is leaking.

(repacked) hR# 30855 Loop 12 vent 4 (05-12) packing leaks steam.

(repacked valve) hR# 35327 Repair root valve at flow orifice on #15 Rx Recire Sys.

(repacked valve) hR# 35326 Repair coupling on RBCLC to #13 Rx Recirc pump.

(welded new union in line)

WR# 30895 Repack Steam IV 39-10.

(repacked valve) hR# 32717 Indicated pressure of LP seal is rising on #11 Recire. pump repair /

replace as necessary.

(removed old seal and replaced with modified seal) hR# 35591 Snubber 36 IIS 6 low on oil.

(filled with oil, tightened fittings) hR# 35590 Snubber 39 IIS 12 low on oil.

(filled with oil, tightened fittings)

WR# 35593 Snubber 66 ilS 16 low on oil.

(filled with oil, tightened fittings) hR# 35592 Snubber 66 IIS 9 low on oil.

(filled with oil, tightened fittings)

WR# 35502 Repack Containment spray raw water pump 93-01.

(repacked pump)

WR #35791 01-12 BV adjacent to 113 ERV water is leaking by bottom flange nuts.

(torqued bolts on poppet valve 01-12, to 280 ft. Ibs.)

  1. 12 Emerg. Cool. loop steam vent valve packing leaks by (05-04R).

Also air operator not working.

(replaced packing and freed limit switches on valve.

Replaced 0 rings in air operator) hR# 35594 Inspect all snubbers in llPCI sys. using htST-V1.

(inspected all accessibic snubbers in sys. 29, 30 and 51) hR# 35796 Inspect all snubbers in llPCI sys..using htST-V1 criteria to meet RAP-6.

(Inspected all accessible snubbers in sys. 29, 30 and 51) hR# 35853 Testable check valve 93-58 does not work, repair.

(cycled valve 3 times) hR# 35861 Install DW strong backs.

(installed strongbacks) hR# 32153 Rebuild Cont. spray raw water pump #122.

CLASS I WORK - INSTRUMENTATION 6 CONTROL - NOVEMBER 1985 WR# 35323 Feedwater Pump #12 lock-in valves failed to prevent feedwater control valve movement on loss on Instrument air pressure (rebuilt lock-in valves and replaced tubing)

WR# 35324 Check calibration of #113 and #123 Electromatic Relief valves (Performed calibration procedure N1-ISP-18)

WR# 35329 Level control valve 60-18 needs adjusting.

(Replaced EP 60-18A and calibrated EP and valve positioner)

  1. 11 02-112 monitor system - reading high on control room records of 02 (Readjusted flow meters and recalibrated per ICP-201.2112 02)

WR# 35550 Scram Pilot solenoid valves #117 and #118 need rebuilding (rebuilt solenoids and performed timing test)
