This is in reference to your request in a letter dated May 17, 1985 to amend License No. SNM-182. In order to continue our review, we need the following additional information:
The description of Mr. Vincent J. Santilli's training and experience does not contain enough information for the NRC to approve him as Radiation Safety Officer. We need information to demonstrate that he has competence in the following areas:
- 1. the performance of radiation surveys of laboratory areas where radioactive materials are used. including selection of the survey instrument and evaluation of the results;
- 2. .the performance of contamination survey areas where radioactive materials are used including selection of the survey technique and counting instrument and evaluation of the results;
- 3. performance of sampling and evaluation of airborne radioactivity levels at the breathing zone of individuals using volatile radioactive materials;
- 4. performance of sampling and evaluation of airborne radioactivity levels in effluent air.
Please specify any additional training and/or experience that Mr. Santilli has obtained in order to be able to provide the necessary radiological safety expertise that your license. requires.
