Dear Mr. Denton:

SUBJECT:

Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Unit I Docket No. 50-416 License No. NPF-29 File: 0260/0840/L-860.0 Utility Power Corporation Engineering' Reports 3

AECM-85/0403 In a submit tal dated November 1, 1985, Mississippi Power and Light Company (MP&L) proposed an amendment to License Condition 2.C.(26) to alter the inspection interval for the low pressure turbines. This submittal had as attachments two Engineering Reports (ER-8503 and ER-8105) which were stamped as proprietary information. This letter is to confirm MP6L's permission to release these reports to the NRC.

Prior to submitting the proposed license amendment, MP6L was granted verbal permission to release any Engineering Report which was necessary to support negotiations with the NRC. This was later followed up with a letter from Utility Power Corporation to MP6L, a copy of which is attached for your reference.

In clarificat'lon of this letter, a phone call was made to Mr. Gary Cook of Utility Power Corporation on December 4, 1985. It was explained to Mr. Cook that in releasing the subject engineering reports to the NRC that it would be necessary for these reports to be placed in the Public Document Room along with the license amendment submittal. Mr. Cook stated that te fully understood that to be the case and that there was no objection. Mr. Cook reemphasized that MP&L or the NRC were given full permission to utilize these engineering reports in any way necessary to support the proposed license amendment.
