Mr. Leigh Pegues, Director Alabama Department of Environmental Management 1751 Federal Drive Montgomery, Alabama 36130 Attention: Mr. Charles Horn
Dear Mr. Pegues:
BELLEFONTE NUCLEAR PLANT (BLN) AQUATIC PREOPERATIONAL ASSESSMENT - 1974-84 Enclosed are four copies of the report "Preoperational Assessment of Water Quality and Biological Resources of Guntersville Reservoir in the Vicinity of Bellefonte Nuclear Plant, 1974 through 1984." This assessment provides results for all instream preoperational monitoring activities to date, describing baseline aquatic conditions near BLN.
r .
Although submittal df this report is no longer listed as a requirement of NPDES Permit AL0024635, revised effective May 8, 1985, such a requirement has been a part of past permits. Development of this assessment has continued in order to (1) consolidate and preserve our k.nowledge of the aquatic environment near BLN (in light of an extended fuel load date for unit one - July 1993) and (2) provide a sound basis for refining future
- monitoring efforts which are required in the current NPDES permit.
Should you have any questions or require further information, please call
' Stephen R. Wells at FTS 872-2971 or (205) 386-2971 in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
Sincerely,
?-
