Dear Mr. Mitti:
SUBJECT:
FEFLACEFENT PARTS FOR ASME SECTION III COLE COMP 0NENTS We have completea cur review of your request dated Aucust 6,1985 regarding replacer:.cnt parts for certain ASME Section III Coce components. PSEuG is experiencing instances where it is now no longer possible to purcFese replace-rtrt parts for certain punps that were ccnstructed to Section III, Cicss 3 cf the ASPE Ccce including the Code N-stamp. This is due to the fact the original ranufacturer of the purps sold the product line to another rLoufacturer who does not have an N-stamp and Cc.dc Authorization. Replacement parts may therefore be purchased in cerformance with Section !!!, Class 3 of the Code but without the h-stan p.
lhe pumps which were provided as pert of the Emergency Diesel Generator package by Colt Incustries are:
fuel oil pumps P-402 A, B, C, and 0; and lube oil keep warm pumps P-407 A, B, C, and D were constructed by Crane Deming. Complete pumps and replacement parts withcut an l!-stamp are currently cbtairable from the Gorrzr.-Pupp Company.
Based on your request, we understand that PSE6G would prccere replacement pump f
parts that are in conformar.ce with all the requirements of ASNE Section III, Class 3, incluoing all appropriate quality assurance requirements which will be in cocpliance with 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix B.
PSE&G would also perforn, the appropriate vendor survey and assure compliance with code requirements.
The staf f finds the methods of procuring replacement parts for ASME Section III, Class 3 pumps where the current manufacturer has no ASME Code Authorization and N-Type Stanp to be acceptable for the Hope Creek Generating Station. This approval is contingent on a PSE&G comitment to 1) perform the appropriate vender survey,
- 2) assure compliance with pertinent provisions of Section III of the ASME Code (except for the N-Stamp), and 3) provide an ASME type certification document certifying all other related Section III requirements have been con: plied with.
