Requalification Program Evaluation, Unit 1 On July 9-11, 1985, the NRC conducted an evaluation of the requalification program at San Onofre Nuclear Generation Station, Unit 1.
The preliminary findings discussed with those members of your staff at the conclusion of the evaluation are contained in the enclosed report.
Per NUREG-1021, Operator Licensing Excminer Standards, the overall evaluation of the program adequacy must fall into one of three categories:
" Satisfactory", " Marginal", or " Unsatisfactory". The criteria for this determination are summarized in the encicsure and are detailed in NUREG-1021, ES-601.
During this requalification cycle four Reactor Operators and three Senior Reactor Operators were examined. The NRC prepared and administered the July 9, 1985 written, and oral examinations.
In addition, the exarciners reviewed the records of the requalification program to verify its implementation. All seven operators passed the written and oral examinitions.
Based on the criteria in NUREG-1021, the requalification program at Sa 4 Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1 is evaluated as satisfactory.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a), a copy of this letter and enclosure 1, Examination Report, will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
