Dear Mr. Vassallo:
On November 1,1985, Carolina Power & Light Company submitted our plans to perform intergranular stress corrosion cracking (IGSCC) inspections and mitigative actions during the Brunswick-2 Reload 6 outage, scheduled to begin on December 1,1985. In a recent telephone conversation, your staff requested more detailed information regarding the scope of the planned inspections. As stated in our November 1,1985 submittal, the IGSCC inspections will be performed in accordance with the requirements of Generic Letter 84-11. Table I lists the welds which we currently plan to inspect. Table 2 list-,
those welds which will be replaced as a result of the reactor water cleanup system piping upgrade. The information contained in these tables is preliminary and intended to be used for informational purposes only. The final results of the inspections, the specific scope of the Induction Heating Stress Improvement Program, and a description of any further corrective actions will be submitted prior to Brunswick-2 startup.
