The University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus wants to renew Lic # SN4-1836 under the terms stated in docunent sent to NBC on 19%d* on August 19, 1983 except for an amendment that is hereby requested for the purchase and use of a Hydroprobe Moisture Depth Gauge with a
50 millicurie Americium-241/Be source. is Operator's Manual of the instrument to be purchased. is a resume of the principal investigator and user of the Hydroprobe.
The principal investigator, Dr. Megh Goyal, will attend a one day training at one of the two institutions addressed in enclosure 4. is a description of the location of the farm where the instrunent is to be used and stored. This farm is located in the south part of the island. The UPR Mayaguez Campus is located in the west part of the island.
Leak tests will be performed as per instructions from manufacturer (See page 11-5, item 4.0 of Energency Procedures of Operator's Manual, Encl.1). The Radiation Protection Officer, Ms. Nimia E. Irizarry will perfonn the leak tests. (Please refer to application submitted on 1978 for resume of RPO).
We are including a copy of the Radiation Safety Regulations Manual for our Campus for your information.
