OFFICE OF THE coMuisslONER January 15, 1997 i

l KEMORANDUM TO:

Chairman Jackson l

Commissioner Dicus 2

Commissioner Dias Commission McGaffigan FROM:

Commissioner Rogers a

SUBJECT:

COMSECY-96-063:

PUBLIC COMMUNICATION INITIATIVES - DSI-14 1

i' After a review of Phase II of the Stakeholder Interaction Report j

and after listening to the Steering Committee briefing on January 13, I believe that the Commission's preliminary views on this DSI captures my position relative to the early identification of public concerns and methods for public interaction while maximizing effectiveness and economy in its i

existing program.

There is enough flexibility in the preliminary view to allow for future communication development to be factored 4

l into the process.

I While many of the comments received suggested innovative ways to improve communication, I still believe that our preliminary view l

is the most practicable program to pursue.

I agree with Commissioner Dicus' comments relative to the 2.206 process in her memo of January 10.
