t NIAGARA M0 HANK POWER CORPORATION NINE MILE POINT UNIT 2 DOCKET NO. 50-410 Final Report for a Problem Concerning Velan Valve 2 MSS *MOVll2 Body Material Qualification (55(e)85-25)

Description of the Problem During a review of documentation, it was observed that the certified material test report provided by the valve manufacturer did not document the test coupon heat treatment duration and temperature as required by ASME Section III, NB-2211.

Problem Solution A separate test forging has been located that has the same heat and lot number as the valve body. Heat treatment and tensile testing of test coupons have been performed and evaluated, and the results were satisfactory.

Analysis of Safety Implication The certified material test report for-the valve body forging was resubmitted indicating the post-weld heat treatment was perforned in accordance with ASME III, NB-2211 and providing the results of the tensile tests.
