Dear Mr. Keppler:

A deficiency pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55(e) report number 82-10, regarding Structural Steel Inspection Records at our Braidwood Station, was reported by Reference (a).

Reference (b) provided a status of our ongoing reinspection efforts to resolve this issue.

At that time it was reported that "all accessible welded and bolted connections which had missing QC inspection records had been either QC inspected and accepted, or had been repaired and QC accepted."

A recent review of the populations included in the NCRs assigned to track and~ resolve " inaccessible" and " accessible" connections in block wall columns revealed that all " accessible" connections have not yet been completed as reported in our letter of November 2, 1984.

Nineteen " accessible" columns originally had been classified as inaccessible because they were fire proofed or blocked by equipment.

The reinspection / rework of these nineteen columns is not yet complete although the columns and connections are accessible.

New NCRs have been written to document this situation and track the reinspection / rework of the nineteen columns.

This clarification regarding the classification of these columns does not have any impact on our reinspection efforts.
