This is in regard to your request for approval of a route to be used for transport of spent reactor foal as contained in your letter of January 8,1986 and correspondence fron dchaster University of October lb. 1985 and January 8, 1986 Tho route requested in the abovo corrmpondence as modified in the enclosure. is Judged to nact the regulatory requiremants in accordance with 10 CFR 73.37 for shipmants of spent fuel and is approved.

Arrangenents with law enforce 1ent agencies along the route as roquired by 10 CFR 73.37(a)(2) have been comaletod by the NRC stat f.

Dita relating to thesa arrang ments and a copy of the approved routa are enclosed. This information is to he incorporated into your shipmont plans and provided to the driver /Mcort along with instructions regarding its use.

Please note that assuring highway safaty is tha rosponsibility of the carrier and our approval is not intended to provide relief in this regard.

During seasonal periods when inclemant weather with acco ipanying hazardous e.
