On August 5,1985 the flRC staff met with representatives of hMPC and Stone and Webster Engineering Corpnration (SWEC) in Bethesda, Maryland to discuss the Preservice Inspection Program (PSI) and Inservice Inspection Program (ISI) for liir.e Mile Point 2 (N!!P-2).

During the meeting the hRC staff discussed the three areas that are reviewed in the PSI /ISI progran

1) adequacy of the program 2)reliefrequests
3) generic problem areas such as cladding.

In addition the liRC staff discussed the use of these programs for NRC inspections.

Concern was expressed by the !!RC staff that inspections are being perforced dt hhp-2 Without an acceptable PSI program.

The fiRC staff discussed the methods which other applicants have used to develop their programs and the merits and disadvantages of each of these. The staff cnphasized that NMPC has the option to develop the format of their PSI /ISI program and the NRC would review any femat submitted which contained an acceptable program, the staff expressed ccr.cern however that liMPC develop a PSI /ISI program which is managable, hMPC did not provide a schedule for resubmittal of the PSI /ISI program. LEPC will consider submitting the PSI /ISI program for Class 1 equipment in advance of the balance of the program, to allow the review process to proceed. The liRC staff stated that the PSI /ISI program should be subnitted shortly in order to support a February fuel load date.
