Dear Mr. Femreite:

An NRC inspection was conducted February 10-12,1997, at your Siemens Nuclear Fower a

Corporation Richland, Washington, facility. The enclosed report presents the scope and results of that inspection. The purpose of the inspection was to determine whether activities authorized by the license were conducted safely and in accordance with NPC requirements. At the conclusion of the inspection, the findings were discussed with those

members of your staff identified in the enclosed report.

l The inspector determined your security program was being effectively implemented.

Based on the results of this inspection, an inspection followup item was identified.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(d) of the NRC " Rules of Practice." Part 2,

documentation of the findings of your programs and procedures for safeguarding special nuclear material are exempt from public disclosure; therefore, the enclosure to this letter will n_ol o be placed in the Public Document Room.
