Dear Mr. Denton:
Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) submits for your information the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant (SHNPP) Environmental Radiological Surveillance Report for the calendar years 1983 and 1984. This report documents a two year preoperational study characterizing the background radiological characteristics of the SHNPP locale.
The Preoperational Environmental Radiological Surveillance Program will be continued until plant operation begins to establish the. baseline for use in evaluating the annual radiological environmental operating reports.1 Additional information will be submitted in accordance with Technical Specification 6.9.1.6.
