l Insoectors: Wayne Slawinski (RIII); Robert Shewmaker (NMSS) l Purnose and Scone: Special, announce:i inspection to observe and evaluate certain of the licensee's waste water problems. The purpose of the site visit l is three-fold, as follows: !
I (1) Review drawings / blueprints related to facility underdrain and '
surface water drainage systems (2) structural its Observe current stability condition of basement floor foundation and assess '
(3) Observe recently dug " monitoring wells" and assess their viability I (with groundwater assistance flow from data. BillInFord - NNSS) in providing meaningful addition, evaluate the licensee's mechanisms ;
( ; for collecting and analyzing potentially contaminated water pumped from these monitoring wells.
Samples of water pumped from the monitoring wells will be collected and brought back to RIII for radiological analysis.

ADVANCED MEDICAL SYSTEMS, CLEVELAND, OHIO SITE ACTIVITIES TWO ' MONITORING WELLS" WERE DRILLED ON 1/31/9E AND A THIRD IS PLANNED FOR DRILLING ON 2/1. THE WELLS ARE BEING DRILLED TO A Ef/TH OF ABOUT 20 FEET.
GROUNDWATER WAS FOUND BEGINNING AT A DEPTH OF AB00f FIVE FEET IN THE TWO WELLS DUG THUS FAR. SHALE WAS STRUCK AT A DEPTH OF ABOUT ELEVEN FEET, WHICH WAS l DRY.
l THEY PLAN TO PUMP WATER FROM THESE WELLS ON 2/1 AND CONDUCT DRAW DOWN TESTS. !
THE WATER WILL BE PUMPED TO AB0VE GROUND STORAGE TANKS TO ALLOW IT TO BE i ANALYZED. THE LOCATION OF THE THREE WELLS WILL BE AS FOLLOWS:
(1) 15 FEET EAST OF THE BLDG AND 15 FEET NORTH OF THE MANHOLE (2) 40 FEET SOUTH OF THE BLDG (3) SW CORNER OF THE BLDG, ABOUT 30 FEET FROM BASEMENT I
THE PROJECT IS BEING DIRECTED BY DONALD JONES OF QUALITY ENVIRONMENTAL SOLUTIONS, SHERWOOD FOREST, MARYLAND (410) 849-5522.

DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW BETTER TO PROCEED WITH THIS ASSSSMENT? BOB SHEWMAKER AND WAYNE SLAWINSKI WILL BE ONSITE THURSDAY AND POSSIBLY FRIDAY OF THIS WEEK TO REVIEW RELATED MATTERS.
