A routine safety inspection of your radiation protection program during
repairs to the core spray sparger "T"
box and radioactive waste management
program for your low-level radioactive waste storage facility was conducted
by Mr. H. Bi:Couse of this office on October 8-11, 1985. Our findings were
discussed 5,ith Mr. R. Fleischmann at the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas of the radiation protection and radioactive waste programs examined
during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I Inspection Report
which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the inspection con-
sisted of selective examination of procedures and representative records,
interviews with personnel and measurements and observations made by the
inspector.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed. However, an
unresolved item relating to the safety review of your low-level radioactive
waste storage facility was noted.
In addition, several creas of apparent weak-
ness in your radioactive waste management program relate. to the facility are
discussedinthereoottandshouldbeaddressedinyourg'4
nagement program.
