- 1985, at approximately 0500
- CDT, with Unit 1
in steady-state operation at approximately 1390 MWt (approximately 57%
power) and Unit 2 in steady-state operation at approximately 2432 MWt (approximately 100% power), the volume in both fire protection water storage tanks dropped to less than 270,000 gallons.
On July 6,
- 1985, at approximately 0450
- CDT, the deluge valves activated on 1C cooling tower.
This caused a low fire water pressure on the fire water system which automatically started the electric fire pump and one diesel fire pump.
Before the activated deluge valves could be isolated, the fire protection water storage tanks' volume dropped to less than 270,000 gallons.
The requirement of Unit 1 Tech.
Specs. section 3.13.2.b and Unit 2 Tech. Specs. section 3.7.6.1.b was exceeded before the activated deluge valves could be isolated.
Both fire protection water storage tanks were returned to within Tech.
