Dear Mr. Holm:

The Commission has issued enclosed Amendment No. 6 to Facility Operating l License No. R-117 for the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The l amendment approves the decommissioning plan for the Low Power Reactor, Assembly (LOPRA) in response to your submittal of February 10, 1995, as supplemented on April 24, 1995, and October 2, 1996. The amendment also authorizes the approved decommissioning plan to be included as a supplement to the LOPRA Safety Analysis Report pursuant to 10 CFR 50.82(b)(5).

Copies of the Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact,'

which has been published in the Federal Reaister, and the Safety Evaluation supporting Amendment No. 6, are also enclosed. >
