Gentlemen:
This refers to the radiation protection inspection conducted May 6 through
July 22, 1985, at the Byron Nuclear Station, documented in NRC Inspection
Reports No. 50-454/85022; 50-455/85020, which was forwarded to you by letter
dated August 8, 1985. A Notice of Violation and Proposed Imposition of Civil
Penalty addressing violations resulting from three separate events documented
in the NRC Inspection Report was forwarded to you by our letter dated
October 2, 1985. A violation addressed in the NRC Inspection Report but not
forwarded by cur October 2,1985 letter is described in the enclosed Appendix.
A written response is required.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of
this letter, the enclosures, and your response to this letter will be placed
in the NRC's Public Document Room.
We will gladly discuss any questions you have concerning this inspection.
