SUBJECT:
Special Nucisar Materials Licenas Ilo. SE33 - RE our ID December 1958 application for a pellet production plant.
Dear Mr. Jahnsons Mr. C. McCallum called Friday, January 23, regarding questions on our pellet plant application. The first question was regarding Paragrayh h, Page 2.
Q: What is the diameter of the storage hopper abow the 20" food hopper on the pellet press?
t As This hopper is 138 in diameter; however, it has a volume of 2h36 ins inoind.-
ing the discharge spout. Acccrding to L3019 Part h, Deleted, Table 16, for gn 5% or lower assay product, a cubio volume of 16:8 in. is considered safe flor material with a density of 3.2 g/co or less. sinoe w density is below this, it would appear that this hopper is adequately safe.
megarding Paragraph 1, Page 3 Qs Mr. Moca11mm regnested further amplification of safety precautions at the dis-obarge end of the pre-sinter fernsee.
It has been decided to $astall a spooial abate at the eed at the puw-sinter As fWresos and egaty this ehmte with a C inde se11, the.been et.which will, be,inteerupted in same the pelasta pela g.,'If the beam'.$sgtstesegyted,;the
