FROM :

Cha.rlos D. Luke, Chief Criticality Evaluation Branch l'1LI.INCKROI/f IRJCIEAR DIVISICN

SUBJECT:

s We have reviewed the En114nckrodt application dated December M,1960 requesting amendment of their license to permit processing up to 6% enriched uranium.

Mallinckrodt is presently authorized to process 5%

enriched uranium in limitad safe batch quantities as presented in K-1019 (fifth revision).

For the proposed 6f, limited process batches would continue to be based upon the above reference. The same equipment and procedures now approved for 5% enrichment will remain unchanged.

i We see no objection to approval of the proposed in-1 crease in enrichment.
