We have reviewed the Mallinckrodt Nuclear letters of May 11 and May 25, 1959, requesting amendment to License SNH-33 to permit operation of a plant for conversion of UF6 to UF4 The application indicates that criticality control throughout the processing steps will be assured through safe geometry of all equipment and containers.

Mallinckrodt has demonstrated to our satisfaction by acceptable calculation methods that the proposed size and spacing of the various equipment is adequate to preclude interaction and consequent criticality.

Accordingly, we believe that the plans for the processing plant pro-posed by Mallinckrodt are satisfactory.
