Dear Mr. Johnson:

It has cons to our attention within the last two weeks that a shipping container has been approved by your Division which permits appromiantely i

3k' spacing between safe batch sises. As you recall, our birdcages are i

all designed en a 2h* spacing principle which we know is adequately safe.

l It becomes imperative, however, at this tius, that we obtain a definitive statement tros the Division of L1 mensing and Regulation regarding the minimana distance that will be permitted between safe batch sises so that our birdcages can be designed with a adminum of weight and spmos. We are requesting, therefore, that you bring this to the attention of both the Transportation and the Basmad Evaluation Groups. We urge that a mini-spacing, which will be approved, be established at the earliest possibis date so that we and the rest of the industry can have uniform hipping i

procedures. It should also be possible to use this spacing as a basis j

for establishing a unitcas package for the entire industry, which, if you reon11, is our primary goal in cooperation with the Bureau of Explosives l
