AIR MAIL Dr. Clifford Beck, Chief Hazards Evaluation Branch Division of Civilian Application 1901 Constitution Avenue, N.W.

Washington 25, D.C.

Dear Dr. Beck:

This will confirm our brief discussion in Washington on June 19 in which you agreed to discuss some of our criticality problems with several of our engineers. In accordance with your suggestion, Messrs. Brown, Knox and Tompkin will visit you at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 26. All of these men are "Q" cleared and we have access to the criticality classification under our Access Permit No. h09 I think you are probably aware that we have erected a small plant at Hematite, Missouri in which we are currently converting UF6 Of various enrichments to UO. We have also made some enriched 2

uranyl sulfate. The engineers and chemists who will visit you are concerned with the design and/or operation of the plant and I be-lieve discussion with you should be most helpful to us and the solution of some of our problems.

We appreciate very much your agreeing to talk to them.

S cerely yours, M

Frederick M. Belmore Special Asst. to the' President p
