p-DOCKET NO. 50-413 UNIT: CATAWBA 1 DATE: 10/15/85 NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

MONTH: September 1985 Catawba Unit 1 began-the month at 94% due to excessive moisture carryover from the Steam Generators'. The unit was allowed to increase

~

power to 100% on 9/04 after testing during the month of August had shown that the moisture carryover would not cause excessive wear during the balance of this fuel cycle. Problems with a heater drain pump caused net generation to drop on 9/05. The pump was placed back in service on 9/06 which increased net generation to normal. The unit operated at 100% throughout the rest of September.
