The material to be incinerated will eensist of filters, rags, paper, etc. and floor mop waters.

Deseristice of Inoinerator An outline deswing of the incinerator is, enclosed.

Basioally, the insinerator consists of an 18" diameter by 12 3/2" high pot on a 3" thiok fire betok annulas.

I can be vorified by occporing the inego e en of the bonnat (low gas velocity) to the restricted aren of the fluo (high gas volooity) and recalling tbat the only gasen passing through tho trash are cotubustion prcducts of tho trash itself.

Batch Properation Filters:

The filtera will be pra-cicanod by vacuuming 4

and tapping to remove loose material.

As a result tbo maximum uranium content in tho low enrichment filtors will i

not exceed two or threo pounds.

For high onrichmont filtors the maximum content will be cpproximately 100 grams.

a This difference is due to the size difference of low and high enrichment filters.

This weight will be knoun since all filters sro taro weighed prior to use and weighed again attor pre-cleaning with the weight difference attributed )

to the urenium matorial contained.

Tho low onrichment filters /

will be comprossed to fit in the incinerator pot.

All filters will be packaged in a polyethylene bag.

Rags, Paper., Etc.*

This matorial is not used directly in i

the plant procese as in the case of filters.

Consequently, l

the uranium content is less than 1% by weight.

It would therefore take a minimum of 74. pounds of this material to i

accumulate 350 grams of uranium.

The volume of the pot is not large enough to socomodate this quantity of trash.

i Trash that had been used in a manner which would result in a high uranium content will be treated tbs same as the filtera.

Mop Water:

All mop unter is analyzed for uranium content.

The mop water will have been concentrated by boiling down elsewhere in ths' plant prior to introduction into the insinopator or concentrated in the incineratoe itself depos!=
