,no The Byron Unit-1 Auxiliary Building Vent Stack Monitor (lRE-PR028) was declared inoperable at 1200 on 11/24/84. A gas grab sample required by the Tech Spec Action Statement was missed at 1500 on 11/25/84 due to personnel error. Both Control Room personnel and Rad-Chem Foremen have been instructed to verify that the action statement has been exited prior to terminating the sampling requirements.

This revised'LER is submitted to designate the cause code assigned this event.

.asen,nacs assewsin A gas grab sample required by Tech Spec 3.3.3.10 action statement was not taken as required. The action statement was entered at 1200 on 11/24/84 and a sample

was nissed at 1500 on 11/25/84 for 1RE-PR028 ( Auxiliary Building Vent Stack Monitor). The plant was in operating mode 5.

When the action statement was entered, sampling was initiated by the Rad-Chem Department as required by Technical Specifications.

Due to a cognitive error a required sample was not taken at 1500 on 11/25/84.

The monitor was declared operable and the action statement was exited at 0856 on 11/26/84.

Because Byron Station had not yet reached initial criticality, no radioactive releases could have occurred during the period.

In addition, no high radiation alarms were received on process radiation monitors upstream of the vent stack monitor. Therefore, plant and public safety were not affected.

Both Control Room personnel and Rad-Chem Foremen have been instructed to verify that the action statement has been exited prior to terminating the sampling requirements.
