This refers to the special team. inspection conducted by Dr. P. K. Eapen and

others of this office on September 3-6, 1985, at your office, the Vermont

Yankee Nuclear Power Station, Vernon,, Vermont and Yankee Atomic Electric

Company offices, Framingham, Massachusetts, of activities authorized by NRC

License No. DPR-28 and to the discussions of our findings held by Dr. Eapen

'

- with you and other members of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.

Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I Inspec-

tion Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the inspec-

tion consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative re-

cords, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.

Our inspectors also reviewed the status of the steps you' nave taken to correct

the violations brought to your attention in the enclosure to our letter dated

April 25, 1985. We have no further questions regarding your actions up to this

time as detailed in the inspection report and will examine further actions

during a future inspection of your licensed facility.

In addition our inspectors examined the status of those activities covered in

your letters to us dated May 31, 1985 and August 20, 1985. We have no further

questions regarding this matter and will re-examine your completed actions

during a future inspection.

Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed.
