Dear Ms. Glowacki:

This letter responds to your letter dated February 14, 1985, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (F0IA), six categories of documents associated with a company located at 25 Eastman Road, Parsippany, New Jersey, involved with a ganna sterilization process.

Enclosed Appendix A lists in chronological order by date those records being released in their entirety.

Enclosed Appendix B lists in chronological order by date those records of which portions are being released. Portions of these records are being withheld pursuant to Exemption (6) of the F0IA (5 U.S.C. 9552(b)(6)) and 10 CFR 9.5(a)(6) of the Commission's regulations because their disclosure would constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy.

We are placing copies of the records identified on both enclosed Appendices in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR), 1717 H Street, NW, Washington, DC 20555, for your inspection and copying. You may obtain access to these records by presenting a copy of this letter to the PDR staff or by requesting PDR folder F01A-85-111 under your name. There is no charge for inspecting records maintained at the PDR. We are enclosing a copy of a notice that provides charges and procedures for obtaining copies of records from the PDR.

Pursuant to 10 CFR 9.9 of the NRC's regulations, it has been determined that the infonnation withheld is exempt from production or disclosure, and that its production or disclosure is contrary to the public interest. The persons responsible for the denial of the deleted sections of documents 49, 50, 51, 52, and 56 on Appendix B are the undersigned and Mr. Robert B. Minogue, Director, Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research. The persons responsible for the denial of all other documents on Appendix B are the undersigned and Dr. Thomas E. Murley, Regional Administrator, Region I.

This denial may be appealed to the NRC's Executive Director for Operations l within 30 days from the receipt of this letter. As provided in 10 CFR 9.11, I any such appeal must be in writing, addressed to the Executive Director for Operations, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Connission, Washington, DC 20555, and should clearly state on the envelope and in the letter that it is an " Appeal from an Initial F0IA Decision."
