Braidwood Station Units 1 and 2 10 CFR 50.55(e) No. 84-17 Interim Report Concrete Expansion Anchor Inspection Deficiencies NRC Docket Nos.-50-456/457 References (a): D. H. Smith letter to J. G. Keppler dated November 9, 1984.
(b):
D. H.
Smith letter to J. G. Keppler dated February 4, 1985.
(c): A. D. Miosi letter to J. G. Keppler dated May 7, 1985.
Dear Mr. Keppler:
References (a), (b), and (c) provided information concerning a potential deficiency reportable pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55(e) regarding existing concrete expansion anchors (CEA) installations.
The purpose of tnis letter is to provide an updated status of the corrective actions taken to resolve this issue.
This letter is considered to be a Interim Report.
As discussed in Reference (c), site contractors were developing their CEA installation and inspection procedures using the generic CEA installation procedure (PCD-08, On-Site Contractor Installation and Inspection of Concrete Expansion Anchors).
This has been accomplished and the procedures have been approved or are in the approval process.
In addition, the initial phase of the sample inspection program being used to determine quality of past CEA work (PCD-30, Evaluation of Concrete Expansion Anchor Installations) has been completed.
The initial data from this inspection is being reviewed by Sargent & Lundy (S&L).
To finalize their review and determine if further actions are.necessary, S&L has requested site contractors to clarify information relative to their inspection results.
This effort is in_ progress and is nearing. completion.
We expect to submit an Interim Report updating the status of this program in January, 1986.
