Dear Dr. Murley:
POTENTIAL CONSTRUCTION DEFICIENCY UNQUALIFIED BUSSMAN FUSES HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION On April 16, 1985, a verbal report was made to Region I, Office of Inspection and Enforcement representative, Mr.
J.
Strosnider, advising of a potentially significant construc-tion deficiency concerning unqualified fuses in panels sup-plied by Comsip, Inc.
The following interim report is provided in accordance with 10CFR50.55 (e).
Bechtel, our Architect / Engineer and Constructor, has been advised by Comsip, Inc. that some Bussman fuses installed in Hope Creek panels are not qualified for class lE service.
Comsip's communique indicates that the problem is limited to 1/10 amp, 1/4 amp and 1/2 amp fuses.
Bechtel has issued Nonconformance Report No. 7367 to document and control the affected panels.
Bechtel is investigating to determine the scope of the problem.
Suspect fuses will be returned to Comsip for replacement.
We anticipate providing you with a final report to include an analysis of safety implications by June 21, 1985.
