Dear Dr. Murley:

POTENTIAL CONSTRUCTION DEFICIENCY HEAT BUILD-UP IN EDG CABINETS HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION On April 3, 1985, a verbal report was made to Region I, Office of Inspection and Enforcement representative, Mr.

E.

Kelly.,

advising of a potentially significant construction deficiency concerning heat build-up due to three (3) transformers mounted inside the generator control cabinets.

The following interim report is provided in accordance with 10CFR50.55 (e).

Our verbal report to Region I was based on the Louis Allis 10CFR21 report on the subject concern.

To date, Bechtel; our Architect / Engineer and Constructor, has not received sufficient information from Colt Industries, Bassler Electric or Louis Allis to perform an analysis of safety implications.

We have been advised that a Bechtel representative was scheduled to discuss this issue at a meeting with the parties involved on May 2, 1985.

However, no resultant information is presently available for review and incorporation to this report.
