7590-01 U.S. NUCLEAR '<EGULATORY COMMISSION FINDING OF NO SIGNIFICANT IMPACT AMENDMENT OF SPECIAL NUCLEAR MATERIAL LICENSE NO. SNM-1227 EXXON NUCLEAR COMPANY. INC.

RICHLAND, WASHINGTON DOCKET NO. 70-1257 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) is considering an amendment to Special Nuclear Material License No. SNM-1227 to permit the con-struction and operation of a uranium recovery facility. This facility is designed to recover uranium from chemical process waste solutions for recycle to the fuel conversion process.

The Commission's Division of Fuel Cycle and Material Safety has prepared an Environmental Assessment related to the amendment of Special Nuclear Material License No. SNM-1227. On the basis of this assessment, the Commission has con-cluded that the environmental impacts created by the proposed licensing action would not be significant and does not warrant the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement. Accordingly, it has been determined that a Finding of No Significant Impact is appropriate. The Environmental Assessment is available for public inspection and copying at the Commission's Public Document Room, 1717 H Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. Copies of the Environmental Assessment may be obtained by calling (301) 427-4510 or by writing to the Uranium Fuel Licensing Branch, Division of Fuel Cycle and Material Safety, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Washington, D.C. 20555.
