SUMMARY

AUGUST 1996 UNIT I Unit I generated 840,120 megawatthours (MWh) (gross) electrical power during August with a capacity factor of 98.1 percent. On August 2 at 0812 EDT, a power decrease to 62 percent was initiated to allow maintenance on main feedwater pump turbine (MFPT) 1 A. Maintenance was completed, and a reactor power increase was initiated on August 3 at 2057 EDT. Unit 1 operated at 100 percent reactor power throughout the remainder of August.

UNIT 2 Unit 2 generated 859,016 megawatthours (MWh) (gross) electrical power during August with a capacity factor of 100.8 percent. Unit 2 operated at 100 percent reactor power throughout the month of August.

The cause was a random failure of the EllC convener torque motor. The EllC converter torque motor was replaced, and the equipment was returned to service.
