Dear Mr. Keppler:
References (a) thru (f) provided informatien concerning a potential deficiency reportable pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55(e) regarding structural steel installation inspection records at our Braidwood Station.
The purpose of this letter is to provide an updated status of the corrective actions being taken to resolve this issue.
This letter is considered to be a final Report.
Status of Resolution As discussed in Reference (f) Commonwealth Edison Company will repair or upgrade (when necessary) and inspect all inaccessible field connections with inadequate records in accordance with G. K.
Newberg's Procedure 57.
At that time, the corrective actions being taken were approximately 5% complete.
Currently, the inspections and rework of the field installations are approximately 48% complete.

, Some discrepancies in shop welds on blockwall columns were observed while performing sample inspections of welded and bolted connections as previously noted (Ref. f).
A sample inspection of the'blockwall column shop welds to determine their adequacy was
-performed.
This inspection is complete and no discrepancies of engineering significance were found.
Based on these results, the quality of shop welds for blockwall columns supplied by American Bridge, Mid City and Ramco are considered acceptable.
In addition, the 83 miscellaneous structural beam connections embedded in concrete and/or masonry have been walked down for accessibility.

It is anticipated that all corrective actions will be completed by August 15, 1985.
