%, % i',/ FEB 121970 Files AMENDMENT NO.1 TO INDDNITY AGREEMENT NO. B NORTHERN STATts POWER COMPANY (MONTICELLO) - DOCKET 50-263 The Division of Materials Licensing intends to issue Amendment No. 3 to special nuclear materials License SNM-1144 which would authorize the transfer from the temporary storage area in the switchyard tc, the reactor building and inspection and storage in the reactor building of fuel assemblies for the Northern States Power Company's Monticello nuclear power station. At such time as Amendment No. 3 to SNM-1144 is issued, we intend to amend Indemnity Agreement No. B-42 in order to change the indemnified location from the fenced switchyard at the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant to 'the entire site of the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant. On February 5,1970, Gerald Chernoff, Counsel for Northern States Power, informed me that the utility wishes this to be the indemnified location at the time the materials license is amended in order to permit the movement of the fuel to the reactor building. .

Endorsement No. 7 to NELIA Policy NF-174 gives as the location of the facility, all buildings and premises owned, occupied, or used by the named insured known as the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant which is located on the west bank of the Mississippi River approximately three miles northwest of Monticello in Wright County, Minnesota.

Inasmuch as the licensed activity is still limited to the preoperational storage of fuel for the Monticello plant, there is no increase at this time in the required financial protection, nor is there any change in the indemnity fee.
