CATEGORICAL EXCLUSION FOR REQUEST DATED APRIL 17, 1985 '
By letter dated April 17, 1985, Niagara Mohawk, on behalf of itself and its co-owners, requests an amendment to its Special Nuclear Material License No. SNM_-1895 authorizing installation in the reactor vessel and preoperational testing of the neutron detectors. The present license only authorizes the receipt and storage of the detectors. These detectors are sealed and will contain less than one (1) gram of U-235.
Because of the small quantity, storage and use of nuclear materials will pose no threat to the environment. Therefore, in accordance with 10 CFR 51.22(c)(14)(viii), an environmental. assessment or an environmental impact statement is not warranted for this proposed action.
