REPORT NOS. 50-369/85-03 AND 50-370/85-03
On December 20, 1984 - January 20, 1985, NRC inspected activities authorized by
NRC License Nos. NPF-9 and NPF-17 for your McGuire Nuclear Station facility. At
the conclusion of the inspection, the findings were discussed with those members
of your staff identified in the enclosed inspection report. The NRC's concerns
relative to the inspection findings were discussed by J. Nelson Grace, Regional
Administrator, of this office and G. R. Vaughn, General Manager Nuclear Stations,
of your staff, in an enforcement conference held at Region II in Atlanta, Georgia
on March 26, 1985.
Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report. Within these
areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and
representative records, interviews with personnel, and observation of activities
in progress.
The inspection findings indicate that certain activities violated NRC require-
ments. The violations, references to pertinent requirements, and elements to be
included in your response are presented in the enclosed Notice of Violation.
Your attention is invited to unresolved items identified in the inspection
report. These matters will be pursued during future inspections.
