Box 968 Richland, Washington 99352-0968 (509)372-5000 June 17,1985 G03-85-334 Docket No. 50-508 Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Attention: Mr. G. W. Knighton, Chief Licensing Branch No. 3 Division of Licensing U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C.

20555 Subject NUCLEAR PROJECT 3 RESPONSE TO GENERIC LETTER 85-02 STEAM GENERATOR TUBE INTEGRITY Generic Letter 85-02 requested Licensees and Applicants for an Operating License to describe their programs for assuring Steam Generator Tube Integrity and for tube rupture mitigation.

The descriptions were to be in sufficient detail that the staff could compare the programs against enclosure 1 of the Generic Letter.

With one exception, all parts of the enclosure concern in-spections, procedures and Technical Specifications.

Due to the extended con-struction delay, these items have not yet been fully developed for WNP-3.

Item 6 of the enclosure concerns the control logic for the Safety Injection pump-flow path.

At WNP-3, during normal operation, the suctions of the High Pressure Safety Injection (HPSI), Low Pressure Safety Injection (LPSI), and Containment Spray (CS) pumps are aligned with the Refueling Water Tank (RWT).

Receipt of an Engineered Safety Features Actuation Signal (ESFAS) and result-ing Safety Injection Actuation Signal (SIAS) does not require realignment of the pump suctions since the RWT is the primary Safety Injection water source.
