j Comonwealth Edison Company,(Ceco) in Reference ~ 1 requested NRC staff concur-rence in its usk of the Pressure Vessel Research Ctmittee (PVRC) recomended higher damping va' lues in the analysis of piping 'for Byron Station, Units 1 and 2 and Braidwood Station, Units 1 and 2.
The staff iniits response (Reference 2)

stated that Ceco should reference ASME Code Case N-411, which is the staff approved position on the PVRC recomendations. Additional conditions imposed
,i by dhe NRCutaff for Code Case N-411 were identified in Reference 2 and Ceco

was requestad to revig Reference 1 to conform to the staff position.

In Reference 3. GCo has complied with the staff request, as identified in Reference 2.
Therefore, the staff finds the Ceco request to use ASME Code Case R-411 to be acceptable for use at Byron Station, Units 1 and 2 and Braid-wood Station, Units 1 and 2 in the response spectrun seismic analysis of piping systems. The use of ALME Code Case N-411 should be; documented in a future Amendinent to the FSAR.
