Dear Mr. Groce:

t The Commission has issued the enclosed Safety Evaluation Report (SER).

The SER comoletes our review of your application submittal dated February'29, 1930 as supple ented by letter dated June 30, 1980 concerning the Adequacy of Station Electric Distribution System Voltage at the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Staticn.

A detailed review and technical evaluation of the submittal was performed by EG&G under contract to l'RC. This work is reported in EG&G's Technical Evaluation Report (TER), " Adequacy of Statien Electric Distribuiten System Voltages, Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station", dated January 1981, Enclosure 2.

We have reviewed the EG&G report and concur with the conclusions that the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station offsite power system and onsite distribution

. system are capable of providing acceptable voltages at the terminals of -

the Class IE e;uipment for worst case station electric loads and grid voltages and therefore find that you meet our staff positicn concerning the adequacy of station electric distribution system voltages. Our review of your_ proposed degreded grid voltage protection modification is not yet complete and will be the subject of a future SER.
