Thank you for your letter dated August 9,1972, in responce to our Ictter of June 251, 1972, informing us of your situation concerning our requcet for your verifications that valves important to nucicar safety installed or to be ins,talled at pour facilities moet the mininua vall thictatesa requirccents of the specified codco, standards, and procurencnt specif1-cations.

The cecond paragraph of your August 9.1972, Ictter relates to "various possibic neans of determining the adequacy of cast steci valvo uall thickness" vhereac our June 29,, 1972, 1ctter deco not discriminate between-cast and forced velve manufceturing nothods. Therefore, sny valvo vall thickncos verification proi; ram nuot include forged valven sa well as cast vc1ves unleco:
