This letter is being submitted in accordance with the Limerick-Generating Station (LGS) Units 1 and'2, Environmental Protection Plan (EPP) Section 3.2, which stipulates - that the NRC will.be -
notified within 30 days following the-date of approval of a change to the National Pollutant Discharge ~ Elimination System (NPDES) permit.
By a- letter dated November 17, 1992,- the -Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources (PA DER) gave.us approval.to-allow -for the continuous flow of Perk 1 omen Creek water to discharge ~
J to Possum Hollow Run.
This discharge will provide for freeze protection f o r ' t h e -' P e r k i o m e n Creek make-up storage tank.
In accordance with the LGS EPP Section 3.2, the letter from the PA DER granting approval is attached.
The'NRC had been previously notified that we were requesting.
this change to.the LGS NPDES permit in our letter dated Octobar 6, 1992.

Dear Mr. Moricy:
This is in response to your October 6,1992 letter requesting amendment of the
. subject permit to allow for the continuous discharge of 200 gpm of storage tank overflow containing Perkiomen Creek water to Possum Hollow Run. The discharge is necessary to provide freeze protection for the make-up storage tank. Your
-existing permit does include authorization to discharge overflow water during emergency events.
We hereby approve your request for a continuous discharge at Outfall 020 subject to the following conditions:
1.
No crosion of banks or stream beds shall be induced by the discharge; appropriate crosion and sedimentation controls shall be installed at the discharge point 020. The rate of discharge must be controlled to prevent scouring of stream bed and crosion of the stream bank.
2.
The following discharge requirements shall be met:
a.
Dissolved oxygen - minimum daily average 6.0 mg/1, no value less than 5.0 mg/1.
b..
PM - 6.0 to 9.0 Standard Units at all times The discharge shall not contain any substances in concentration or c.
amounts sufficient to be inimical or harmful to the water uses to be protected or to human, animal, plant, or aquatic life.

Biweekly Monitoring shall be performed at the outfall 020 and the results shall be submitted to this office along with the monthly.
Discharge Monitoring Reports.
4.
Approval for a continuous discharge expires on April 30, 1993.
Your NPDES permit will be revised to include this approval when we revoke and reissue your permit as part of the Schuylkill River waterbed repermitting.
