Combined inspection Nos. 70-267/92-01 and 50-57/92-04
This letter refers to the announced safeguards inspection conducted by Mr. A. Della Ratta and
,
observed by Mr. R. J. Albert of this office on November 16-18,1992, of activities authorized
by NRC License Nos. SNM-273 and R-77. At the conclusion of the inspection, the results were
discussed with Mr. Mark Adams and other members of your staff by Mr. Della Ratta.
Areas examined during this inspection are important to public healt_h and safety and are described
in the NRC Region I inspection report that is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas,the
-inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records,
interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.
Additionally, the inspector
examined your actions to resolve the Unresolved Item from the previous inspection of your
physical security program, conducted on Nevember 13-15, 1989. That item was resolved.
The inspector observed that the programs being implemented for the control, accountability, and
physical security of special nuclear material were directed toward the protection of public health
and safety. - No safety concerns or violations of regulatory nequirements were identified.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a), a copy of this letter and the enclosure will be placed in
the NRC Public Document room.
